Civilian Casualties Reported in Koayiah, Syria During Israeli Military Operation
5/9/2025

On March 25, Israeli troops reportedly killed seven individuals, including a villager’s uncle, in Koayiah, Syria. Villagers described the casualties as civilians, while Israeli authorities labeled them “terrorists.” Aza Mohamed, a mother of six, lost her leg in the attack.
Since Syria’s former president, Bashar al-Assad, was ousted in December 2024, data indicates at least 780 Israeli military strikes in Syria, targeting infrastructure such as airports, military sites, and residential areas. Israeli forces stated these operations aim to neutralize perceived threats.
In April 2025, Syrian officials condemned the strikes as violations of international law. Meanwhile, Israeli troops have reportedly constructed fortifications beyond the Golan Heights buffer zone, raising concerns among Syrian residents about territorial encroachment.
In one incident, farmer Mosab al-Abdallah claimed Israeli soldiers detained him and seven others, later releasing them with warnings to avoid their farms, now designated a “closed military zone.” The U.N. confirmed engaging with Israeli authorities over such complaints but noted unresolved cases.
